What to Think About BEFORE You Begin...
Bluemel Construction

1. Make Sure You Thouroughly Plan Your Project
From pre-work to post-clean up, you need to have a plan. Keep in mind, it may be necessary for plans to change (even mid-project); however, hiring a licensed general contractor, can limit any "surprises" that may arise. This will not only affect the timeframe in which your project may take, but also your budget. Know exactly what you are going to do and how much it is going to cost. Make sure you think things through prior to starting, including working with an architect if your are embarking on a project of substantial size. 2. If you are Unsure, Always Hire Experts Having something done incorrectly will cost you more money than you think. The last thing you want to happen, is to complete a project just to learn something was done incorrectly, or not as well as you hoped. If you have any doubts in your abilities, find experts and get the job done correctly the first time. Licensed general contractors are licensed and bonded, so you are protected in the event that something goes wrong. Working with a licensed general contractor, will save you a lot of money in the long run. 3. Have Enough Money Don't budget to your last available dime. Always plan to exceed your budget by at least 25%. You may find a faulty pipe in your wall, termite damage, you may decide to expand the project for the purpose of fulfilling future goals with your home, or simply change a color scheme. Things sometimes happen, so instead of having your project put on hold, budget for the unknown. 4. Protect Your Belongings When doing interior projects, always protect your furniture and belongings, either by removing them or covering them during the process. At Bluemel Construction, we take great care to ensure the protection of your belongings, including the use of containment barriers (when necessary), to control project related dust and debris. 5. Never Settle for Less There is a time to skimp and a time when cutting corners should never be done. When dealing with your home...your investment, and the place to live for years to come, always stick to top quality products and craftsmanship. In the long run, this will save you money on future repairs, repainting and remodeling all over again. When making decisions about your project, think that the work you are having done should last for 20 years or more. Contact us for a complementary consultation!
